Lorenda is a remarkable figure in the holistic health and doula community, bringing over 20 years of medical expertise and a rich background in holistic health to her work. As the president of the Motor City Doula Association and a member of the Doula Advisory Council with the State of Michigan, she is deeply involved in shaping and supporting the doula profession at a high level.
Through her business, Healing with Dignity, LLC, Lorenda empowers families with vital wellness and nutritional knowledge, offering workshops that promote a holistic approach to health. Her dedication extends to mentoring through SisterFriends of Detroit and volunteering with various organizations that serve low-income and vulnerable populations.
In addition to her work in health and wellness, Lorenda provides essential training, such as CPR and First Aid, through the American Red Cross. Her commitment to education and community service underscores her belief in empowering individuals and families with the skills and knowledge they need to thrive.
Outside of her professional achievements, Lorenda is a devoted mother of seven, including two sets of twins, and a grandmother to one. She cherishes spending time with her family in nature and is passionate about building a legacy for them. Lorenda’s blend of professional expertise, community involvement, and family values makes her a truly inspiring leader in her field.

Jayne Jackson is a highly experienced birth doula and doula trainer, bringing two decades of expertise to her role. She has dedicated herself to training over 150 Black birth workers through the Black Mothers’ Breastfeeding Association (BMBFA), across 11 cohorts. Her work spans beyond traditional birth support as she also assists mothers through perinatal loss, offering crucial support during times of grief and pregnancy after loss.
Jayne is a pivotal figure in the Motor City Doula Association (MCDA), where she serves as the board’s secretary and leads two important programs. Her commitment to bridging gaps in perinatal care for families is evident through her comprehensive approach as a full spectrum doula. Beyond her professional endeavors, Jayne is a proud mother of two and enjoys biking, crafting plant-based medicines, and indulging in car concerts.
Her multifaceted role and extensive contributions to doula training, community support, and personal interests underscore her dedication and impact in the field of maternal and perinatal health.

Khadeejah is truly a powerhouse in the field of maternal and infant health! With her extensive involvement and numerous roles, it’s clear she’s deeply committed to making a positive impact in her community. As a Birth and Postpartum Doula with Khadeejah Da Doula LLC, she brings invaluable support to families during one of the most crucial times in their lives.
Her work as the Community Engagement Liaison on the Board for the Motor City Doula Association and as the Board Secretary for A Girl Like Me Inc. nonprofit organization highlights her dedication to fostering connections and supporting causes that uplift others. Through her mentorship at Sister Friends Detroit and her role as an ambassador for the Detroit Irth app, Khadeejah continues to advocate for and educate her community.
Her contributions as a VBAC and surgical birth doula, along with her work as a tutor and community advocate, underscore her passion for improving birth outcomes and supporting families through every step of the journey. Khadeejah’s efforts to educate and uplift those around her reflect her deep commitment to enhancing maternal and infant health and ensuring that every family has access to the care and resources they need.

With over 30 years of experience as a birth and postpartum doula, I have dedicated my career to supporting expectant mothers through their childbirth journeys. Alongside doula work, I am passionate about capturing the beauty of birth and childhood as a professional photographer. Currently, I serve as a Founding Member and Treasurer of the Motor City Doula Association, where I am committed to empowering doulas in their business endeavors. I thrive on providing guidance, support, and backup to fellow birth-workers, ensuring every mother receives the care and attention she deserves.
